Often referred to as the “Lamborghini of poultry.” Their skin is black, their muscle, bone and organs are black! The bird has a mutant fibromelanistic gene – a gene that deposits excessive black pigment.
We have worked very hard on our bloodlines since importing eggs and birds in 2014 and 2015. We also have added lines from top US breeders and Greenfire Farms to produce stunning pigment and black birds unlike any other breed. Working with several unrelated bloodlines you are sure to get birds you can breed selecting the best! Birds that are so black, sunlight dances in metallic shades of purple and green sheen in the feathers.
Through careful selection and culling we always strive for top quality black meat, skin and good black pigment. Roosters can get some mulberry upon maturity due to testosterone and other influences. Show birds should be kept from the vicinity of hens to further emphasize black pigment in combs. Eggs may be marked denoting the different bloodlines included. Hatching eggs are RISKY! You may hatch 100% or you may hatch none at all. We cannot guarantee the distribution of black pigment on chicks.
We cannot guarantee the distribution of black pigment on the hatched chicks. Some can have leakage in tongue, mouth and toes. A small percentage will have some silver leakage in the feathers as they mature. We never breed to these and are culled out of our flock if it pops out.
Blue Egger™ Hatching Eggs
$5.20Blue Egger™- This is another one of Cackle Hatchery’s Egger lines with the main breeding objective to produce a variety of sky-blue hues of colored eggshells produced by the hens. The secondary objective is to produce feather coloring that is mostly in the blue genetic patterns and offshoots. Egg production is the third objective of which you can expect 180-240 eggs a year. They are a little slower to mature and will start their first lay around 7-8 months. Genetic background is our True Ameraucana exhibition type and/or Legbar breeds to secure the blue eggshell.
Bobwhite Quail Eggs

Distinguishable from the white spot around the beak and the white stripe over the eye, the Bobwhite Quail is native to North America and its plumage is colored to allow it to fit in with dry, grassy plains or snowy hills. Introduce Bobwhite Quail to your farm for effective, natural insect control or order Bobwhite Quail for breeding, egg production or hunting. Please order Bobwhite Quail eggs separately from any other birds to ensure proper processing. Age when production begins is 21-25 weeks.
Brown Egger™ Hatching Eggs
$4.22Brown Egger™ is a Cackle Hatchery genetic line of breeding that is an auto sexing design. The hens are black with some red/brown in the neck feathers. They lay a strong shell of brown color and can produce for many years. We use are best red line roosters over our best barred type hens that produce almost 100% accuracy of sexable baby chicks at hatch time. They lay a nice large brown egg and are of good temperament.
Chocolate Egger™ Hatching Eggs
$4.22Chocolate Egger™ is a Cackle Hatchery genetic line of breeding that focuses on breeding hens that will produce a very dark brown bloom covering of their eggs. Feather coloring and body type are not a focus in this breeding program but rather a strict focus on egg color. Egg production can average from 180-260 eggs a year with egg sizes ranging from medium to large size.
Green Egger™ Hatching Eggs
$4.70Green Egger™ – Cackle Hatchery’s Egger line offers several genetics of the eggshell colors. The Green Egger™ will produce many shades and tints of green shell color on their eggs and will lay medium-large egg size eggs. Depending on the time of year and care they will generally start laying around 6 months of age with averages of 200-250 eggs laid every 12 months after the first egg is laid. The Green Egger™ is not the highest producer of eggs compared to a commercial egg layer but can lay and last more years in an even egg production. Cackle Hatchery’s breeding program for the Green Egger™ is not to have color conformity of the feathers and therefore they make a colorful and diversified looking flock of hens. Parent stock are from selected males and females from the Cackle Hatchery Easter Egger line.

This genetic breeding program will produce some of the most interesting color hues and tones of eggshell and eggshell blooms. Egg colors can be of all shades and tones of whites, browns, chocolates, olive, greens, blues, pink and purple. Currently, we are only selling the hatching eggs. These beautiful eggs will amaze you with the different dark spots on each egg although not one will look alike. You will get shades of dark brown eggs with the splatting of dark spots. . There are no conformed color patterns in the feathers of a grown hen on this offering. We have used selective breeding from several different Cackle Hatchery lines to develop the Speckled Egger. We cannot guarantee the quantity, quality or type of speckled dark spots on the eggs of the offspring from this offering. That is all we can tell you …. LOL…. White Egger™ Hatching Eggs
$4.22White Egger™ is a Cackle Hatchery line of breeding that produces a lightweight white hen that lays large brilliant white eggs. We have taken our best line of production leghorns that can produce 280-340 eggs a year for this offering. Although a great egg producer they are not the friendliest hens for a pet but do well confined or as a range chicken. They have a great feed conversion efficiency ratio, so they make a great production hen.
