Pearl Grey Guinea
$6.00Pearl Grey Guineas are usually raised for pest control, foraging, alert behavior, ornamental value, and farmyard utility. They may lay seasonal eggs, but they are not usually chosen as a primary egg-laying bird.
Guinea eggs are smaller than many chicken eggs and have a thick shell. However, customers interested in guineas should choose them mainly for their usefulness outdoors, not for steady egg production.
In addition, guineas have strong flock instincts and often prefer to move together. Because of that, they usually do best when raised in a group rather than as a single bird.
Pilgrim Geese
$30.00 – $70.00Price range: $30.00 through $70.00Pilgrims are the only domestic goose breed in which you can distinguish males from females at any age. As babies, the males are yellow and light gray with lighter colored bills, much like a day old Embden or Sebastopol. The day old female’s down is a deeper gray/green with a darker bill like a Toulouse.
Pioneer Chicken
$3.40The Pioneer Chicken is a slow-growing dual-purpose bird perfect for free-range and pasture-based farming systems. Developed over 15 years of selective breeding, this heritage cross was first established in the 1940s and has been continuously refined to improve meat quality, resilience, and natural foraging instincts.
Pioneers have a strong skeletal structure, excellent feed conversion, and superior meat quality, making them an outstanding choice for farmers looking for a bird that thrives in diverse farming environments. About 25% of the Pioneer Chickens have full feathering rather than the characteristic naked neck. This natural variation comes from their diverse heritage lines, but they are still true Pioneers with the same genetics, growth rate, and performance.
Pioneer Chickens feature auto-sexing coloration, white males and red females, allowing for easy and accurate sexing right at hatch.

Roosters usually weigh about 8.5 pounds, hens about 6.5 pounds, cockerels about 7.5 pounds, and pullets about 5.5 pounds. Cackle’s Rhode Island Red breed facts list the same standard weights and describe the breed as dual purpose for egg laying and meat production.
Roman Tufted Geese
$30.00 – $64.00Price range: $30.00 through $64.00The Roman breed appears to have originated in Italy and is one of the oldest breeds. It is not a large goose and is actually classified as a light breed for show purposes. It was credited for saving the Capitol at Rome during the siege by the Gauls in the fourth century BC. During the night, the assailants climbed to the summit, hoping to take it by surprise. The dogs slept but not the geese. The honking of the geese awakened Marcus Manlius and the intruders were repelled.
Royal Purple Guinea
$6.00Royal Purple Guineas are usually raised for pest control, foraging, alert behavior, ornamental value, and farmyard utility. They may lay seasonal eggs, but customers usually do not choose them as primary egg-laying birds.
Guinea eggs are smaller than many chicken eggs and have thick shells. However, Royal Purple Guineas are most valuable for outdoor usefulness, not steady egg production.
In addition, guineas have strong flock instincts and usually do best in a group. A single guinea may be stressed, noisy, or difficult to manage, while a group can behave more naturally and work together as a watchful flock.
Sebastopol Geese
$110.00 – $240.00Price range: $110.00 through $240.00Sebastopol are probably our most unique appearing goose. You would think that a bird such as this would have been bred fairly recently but actually they have been around for hundreds of years. Their origin is thought to be from the countries surrounding the Black Sea, Hungary and the Balkans. They were known early on in England as Danubian and the Spanish and Italians referred to the breed as Danubio due to importations from the lower Danube river area. How they got the name Sebastopol is a mystery other than some of the first birds may have been imported from the port of Sebastopol.
