This duck breed is perfect for anyone seeking the joy of pet duck ownership. Call Ducks are ideal for the hobbyist that wants beautiful and charming ducks but has little space.
At Metzer Farms, we have a spectrum of Call Duck breeds & colors, ensuring you’ll find the perfect match for your preferences. We have seven different colors of Call Ducklings that you can choose from: Black, Blue, Gray, Pastel, Penciled, Snowy and White.
The exact origins of Call Ducks is debatable, but it is believed they were developed in the Netherlands in the 17th or 18th century. They were initially bred to lure or “call” wild ducks into traps or nets. The small size and loud quacking of Call Ducks made them effective decoys. Hunters used them to attract wild ducks closer, making it easier to catch wild waterfowl for food and sport.
Please note, Call Ducks can fly very well. Historically Call Ducks have been bred with short, wide heads (brachycephalic) and short bills. Here at Metzer Farms, we are not going to stray from the APA guidelines, but we aim to breed a naturally shaped duck – just much smaller. We feel this will allow them to be more productive in terms of fertility, longevity and hatchability.
Cameo Peafowl Pair
$900.00Cameo is the fourth color mutation of the India Blue peafowl (Pavo cristatus), appearing in the United States around 1967. This Cameo peafowl pair is similar to a Buford bronze pair, only paler. The cameo color is a sex linked recessive trait.
This pair includes one mature male, or peacock, and one mature female, or peahen. The cameo mutation results in shades of brown, tan, and white. As mating season progresses, the feathers lose color and become significantly paler.
After each molt, the male is a creamy brown with dark chocolate neck feathers. Unlike other varieties, the plumage lacks iridescence. The female is a much lighter brown, with darker rusty metallic neck feathers. The peachicks are creamy tan.
Only the peacock has a train, or extra long tail coverts, which he displays while courting. The eyes, or ocelli, of a Cameo train are dark brown, fading over time until the next molt.
Cayuga Ducks

The Cayuga breed is thought to have been developed from the wild Black Duck breed in the region of Lake Cayuga in New York. This makes it one of the few duck breeds originating in the United States. Prior to the arrival of the Pekin breed, they were the bird of choice for meat production in the Northeast. Once the Pekin arrived with its white feathers and cleaner appearing carcass, the Cayuga quickly lost its appeal. They remain a very hardy duck and many of their eggs have varying degrees of gray in the shell color. On rare occasions they will lay a pure black egg.

Chinese – Brown Geese
Price range: $30.00 through $64.00As with the African and Super African goose, the Brown Chinese goose originates in China from the wild Asiatic Swan goose. The Brown Chinese is the smallest breed of goose we have. They are light and elegant. It is interesting, however, that they seem to have the most pronounced knob on their head of any African or Chinese geese.
Chinese – White Geese
Price range: $20.00 through $40.00As with the African goose, the Chinese goose originates in China from the wild Asiatic Swan goose. The most distinguishing feature of the Chinese and African geese is their raised knob. Interestingly, the wild Swan goose does not have this feature. It must have been developed after domestication. As the knob is soft skin and not scaly, it is warm to the touch. White Chinese are the most prolific egg laying geese and it is not unusual to have them lay in the fall or winter. Earlier records have egg production of 50-60 eggs per year, with exceptional birds laying 100 eggs. This is now extremely rare, with most Chinese geese laying from 30-45 eggs.
Chocolate Egger™ Hatching Eggs
$4.22Chocolate Egger™ is a Cackle Hatchery genetic line of breeding that focuses on breeding hens that will produce a very dark brown bloom covering of their eggs. Feather coloring and body type are not a focus in this breeding program but rather a strict focus on egg color. Egg production can average from 180-260 eggs a year with egg sizes ranging from medium to large size.

Cornish Cross Chickens

Our Cornish Cross has exceptional feed conversion and growth rate. This chicken will produce the best uniformity for processing with lean, tender breast meat. They can be processed as a Cornish game hen in as few as 4 weeks, a 7.4 lb fryer at 7 weeks, or a roaster at 10 weeks. The Cornish Cross is valued for its rapid growth, great feed efficiency, tender meat, and broad breasts. The genetic traits of this bird have been in development and refined over many years to become the broiler breed of choice for commercial growers. These chickens will grow uniformly with minimal difference in weight. This is the standard chicken grown indoors on litter, but is also the most common variety for pasture and free range type systems.
We have a minimum order size of 6 Cornish Cross chicks. Our chickens are vaccinated for Mareks and Coccidiosis and this is included in the price. Our chicks are always antibiotic free.
Cuckoo Marans Started Pullet
$180.00Cuckoo Marans have a black-and-white feather pattern similar to the Barred Plymouth Rock. This cuckoo pattern gives them a clean, classic look while still offering the special dark egg appeal associated with Marans.

$8.20The Duclair duck is a strain first developed in France and recreated at Metzer Farms in association with Stone Church Farm in upstate New York. This breed will do well as pasture or free range grown. The Duclairs are used by some of the most discerning chefs because of their rich, elegant flavor. In fact, a Michelin three star restaurant in New York includes the Duclair in their menu.
Easter Egger Chicken
$20.00The “Easter Egger™” chicken originally came from Chile in South America, discovered by the Araucana Indians. The true pure Araucana chicken is rumpless (tailless) , has a small curling tuft of feathers next to each ear and come in different pure color types. The true pure Ameraucana chicken has a tail, full beard and comes in pure color types. The Easter Egger chicken is different because they have a full beard under the beak rather than a tuft and have a tail rather than rumpless and do NOT have pure color types. Hatchery® breeding program objectives for the “Easter Egger™” chickens are to produce chickens with a wide variety of feather colors, patterns and feather combinations of colors with a full beard under the beak and high egg production of colorful egg shells. The color of their egg shells vary from pale blue chicken eggs to dark blue to various shades of green and a few light brownish/pink eggs. The meat is delicious and it has a taste similar to quail. We do not offer a specific color variety of this breed; however we do breed for a wide variety of colored feathers and egg colors. The Araucana chicken and Ameraucana chickens have a number of different color patterns being worked on all across the USA and are being shown in poultry shows. The Easter Egger™ chickens are great chickens for backyards, chicken coops, larger chicken houses and for raising free range chickens.
